Gibson, Guy (1918 - 1944)
An extremely rare signed and inscribed 8.75" X 6.75" portrait by Guy Gibson. A thoughtful head and shoulders portrait of Gibson signed boldly in fountain pen ink, "To Ted Sharpe, With best wishes, Guy Gibson, 27/11/43". Interestingly, a newspaper cutting is attached to the reverse relating to Gibson's visit to Canada in 1943, which has been annotated, presumably by the recipient of the photograph, "Met him at cocktail party Jim threw for him on Aug. 26/43. A Small Guy!" In excellent condition, and by far the best we have seen.
